In Makaha you can go to Long's Drug for a few things. The closest full size grocery store is the Waianae Store, followed by Tamura Market in Waianae. Both stores have a deli with poke.

Pokai Bay is a favorite place, but always be mindful of wind and waves, especially in the winter. Makaha Beach is very close and a good choice in the summer, again depending on wind and waves. We also love Yokohama Beach. Lovely white sand and it is the trail head for the hike to Kaena Point.

Our favorite is the Beach House by 604, along with Coquito's. If you feel like a drive, go to KoOlina and spend a bit more time and money. We enjoy Roy's (Aloha Hour from 3 to 5 pm; lots of parking), Monkeypod Kitchen (limited parking) and Longhi's at the Marriott (free valet parking with validation).
